About LQ Management, LLC
La Quinta® was originally founded in San Antonio, TX in 1968. Our first Inn was constructed across the street from Hemisfair ’68, when the World’s Fair was hosted in San Antonio. The name La Quinta, meaning “the country place,” was selected to reflect the chain’s Spanish motif. Since then, La Quinta has been a pioneer in the design and construction of mid-priced hotels primarily for the business traveler.
La Quinta grew steadily through construction of new Inns throughout the United States, with an emphasis in the South and Southwest areas of the United States. In the mid-1980’s, growth shifted from new construction to the purchase of Inns from other competitors.
In 1994, La Quinta completed a re-imaging campaign throughout the entire system. Each property also underwent an extensive exterior refurbishment, which included a fresh, contemporary décor package and a new La Quinta logo.
Today
In early 2006, La Quinta Corporation and its controlled subsidiary, La Quinta Properties, Inc., merged with affiliates of The Blackstone Group, thus creating the newest member of Blackstone’s hotel portfolio: LQ Management LLC.
LQ Management LLC now owns and operates approximately 380 locations nationwide. Including its current franchise agreements at approximately 270 properties, LQ Management LLC’s total portfolio now contains over 650 hotels in 40 states. Combined with La Quinta’s impressive history and Blackstone’s commitment to future growth & expansion, LQ Management LLC is poised to strengthen its position as a leader in the limited-service hotel industry.
